Final Project Reveal

In late August 2016, the project finally came together with a first re-start of the bike in roughly 6 months.  This project involved a frame-off restoration of all components and electrical, but did not include stripping or rebuilding the engine or transmission (flaking chrome cylinders were, however, later replaced).

Early Sept 2016 saw all the remaining components come together, allowing for a first ride.  Several minor mods and fixes followed, which were concluded by Feb.  These included fabricating a shifter bracket, improving the front brake, firming up the fork springs and finishing the seat (see other posts).  For a first rebuild, I am confident that the goals for this project were met 100%. The bike still looks like an 850T, yet with a modernized aesthetic in the fenders, frame and paint, and cafe-styled bars, seat and stance.  With a new wiring harness and every major component refurbished, it starts, runs and rides reliably and feels just right in the process.
